Callidus-tutoring
Callidus-tutor is a student who can help other students to understand some subject or a specific field of expertise. Callidus helps one student face to face or organizes a study circle for a group of students.
If you want to become a callidus-tutor, you do not have to be a peer tutor. You don’t either need to be a genius in your field of expertise. It is enough if you know your subject good enough to be able to help other students to learn. You will get the basic tools for callidus-tutoring in an evening training. Callidus-tutor gets support from HAAGA-HELIA teachers. After tutoring you return a report which entitles you to 1-5 study credits and a work certificate. Callidus-tutors are recruited every September and February.

If you need support in a certain subject, please contact one of the callidus-tutors directly. Callidus-tutors can organize peer-teaching for one student or for a group of students.
Notice, that callidus-tutor is not a professional teacher. Callidus is another student who has special skills in one subject. During peer-teaching callidus can support you in learning process; sometimes another student finds just the right way to explain some difficult case so that you understand it. Nevertheless, you are always responsible for your own learning results! Callidus-tutoring can never replace the professional teaching given by HAAGA-HELIA teachers. Callidus doesn’t always know the right answer right away but can surely help you in finding the right solution.
The following list shows, in which subjects you can get help from HELGA’s callidus-tutors. Callidus-tutoring is not bound to campuses, so feel free to contact callidus-tutors from all HAAGA-HELIA campuses!
